PAPER ANGEL
I feel you now, you’re a part of me
And I wished you well in all honesty
Don’t fail me now, every death you cheat
I hear the wishing wells echo with your glitter glitter heartbeat
Paper angel, paper angel
Every day was ablaze, they all burn together
Glory forever
Winter sun on lightless, listless towers
All, all through
I can’t tell what an angel says
My most beautiful friend
So drowning and so strong
Crushing, calling for me
All that I want is to bore you to pieces again
Light — you’re a part of me
Light, light — in all honesty
Light — you’re a part of me
In lightless, listless towers, lightless, listless people
Paper angel, paper angel

All in My Head

ALL IN MY HEAD
My arms are full of spears and blades
My heart hides knives and plans for raids
A strong enough god that I feel safe
A strong enough pill that I can see your face
So far it’s all in my head
I’m sailing on, I’m sailing on
Unfurl the steel tongues of rage
And void the world: no stars, no names
Give me a longer gun and I’ll feel safe
And bang a louder drum till I can see your face
So far it’s all in my head
I’m sailing on, I’m sailing on

More All the Time

MORE ALL THE TIME
On the wind to the clouds, and from the clouds to the moon
A drop of water has the sound of the ocean
I want it splitting my sides, oceans of tears in my eyes
Break this heart open
I love you more all the time
Drown in decadent dreams involving wishes and things
A glance at heaven only has to be stolen
I want to swim your sky, bring every storm in the night
And break this heart open
Days are going faster
I love you more all the time
Mountains fall to themselves on top of whispering shells
The sea of days is always perfectly broken
I feel you sting in my eyes, a rolling river of light
Break this heart open
Days are going faster
I love you more all the time

American Canyon

AMERICAN CANYON
The vines that climb to tower peaks
Schools of snakes and clouds of bees
The words that murk and ink that bleeds
Rewrite decades and centuries
The arches fall around me
Still, I am lifted up
When even hope rings empty
Now there is only love
Only love, only love
When captors kiss the shattered lips
Scattered rubble amethyst
Falls like a fist on tower bridge
On violet wings beats violence
The arches fall around me
Still, I am lifted up
When even hope rings empty
Now there is only love
The black beams twist the heart unyoked
Tongues of steel and eyes of smoke
The frame is bent, the spirit’s woke
War’s ecstasy, I get the joke
The arches fall around me
Still, I am lifted up
When even hope rings empty
Now there is only love
Only love, only love

AEROMEDICA
Lieutenant, they've just landed across the airfield.
Faraday. Thank God. We lost… we lost so
many last night. So many, so fast. We'll lose
our light in a couple hours. Sooner than that,
with all the dust and smoke.
Alive or dead, move as many as you can,
as fast as you can onto the Lights. We’ll be
flying with the angels of the sky, and if we go hard,
we’ll be within spitting distance of home in a day.
It can’t possibly be safe to go that far, that fast!
Some say when you touch the lightfield,
you die instantly. And then others say that entering
the lightfield has suddenly healed people.
Have you gone insane? Am I going insane?
These are the only survivors.
You can't do this… you have no choice.
We’ll do our best to get everybody home.
Save our souls, Faraday. Save our souls.

Lightfield

LIGHTFIELD
Lightfield, Lightfield
Throw the dice and you blow out the window
Lightfield, Lightfield
The place that we can’t go
I see you checking out
I wish you’d fight it
Mouth-to-mouth and mouth to stone, you want to see oblivion
But we’re almost safe
Almost home
Lightfield, Lightfield
Throw the dice and you blow out the window
Lightfield, Lightfield
The place that we can’t go
The light goes down and the wind comes up
And the lemon trees outside stare all winter at our will to survive
Can’t hope another day
I’ll take grief’s freedom
Brass to gold and gold to bone, pneumonia in the winter sun
I stare into the light of my own eyes
Lightfield, Lightfield
Blow a kiss when I walk through your shadow
Lightfield, Lightfield
Our faces we don’t know
Almost home
Our faces we don’t know
You blow a kiss when I walk through your shadow

MONSTERS OF MERCY
Power venom
Takes a minute just to bend them
A body’s got to shop for the victory
Just usher in a fresh fidelity
Coward, skinner
Insipid advanced beginner
Overgrown child, are you kidding me?
Well, no one needs a grown prodigy
Monsters of mercy and sinners and gods
Raining sugar
Sweet tears of heaven, go figure
You put laughter in this cake, oh you’re killing me
To know me was to hate me but you love me
Mercy, monster
I’m the shadow brother, out playing by the dumpster
In the shadow of a doubt I’ve forgiven you
I’m outwitting, outrunning, outliving you
Monsters of Mercy and sinners and gods

Waiting for the Knife

WAITING FOR THE KNIFE
Waiting for the knife
If I could only, I would lose my silver skin of water
Make it through the night and I will take the knife
And pour my silver skin of water
Waiting for the knife
If I could only, I would lose my secrets and my shadows
Make it through the night and I will take the knife
And lose my secrets and my shadows
I look down, I look down
I’m struck blind, I am blind
And I see love, I see love
Waiting for the knife
If I could only, I would give away the breath of angels
Just make it through the night and I will take the knife
And leave behind the wings of angels
I kneel down, I kneel down
I’m struck dumb, I am numb
And sing love, I feel love
I look down, falling now
The aching sky, the absinthe cloud
See the earth — I feel you now
I’ve done it now, I’ve touched the ground
Love love love
